Our treatment approach is different for every patient and varies depending on whether a patient is diagnosed with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. That’s because every one of our patients has unique healthcare needs.

KNOW YOUR OPTIONS

 

There are various available options that can be considered for you based upon your individual needs, tolerance & side effect profile. The newer treatment options have various benefits like protecting cardiovascular disease and helping with weight loss. We highly encourage you to keep an open mind, educate yourself and discuss all available options with your provider.

At the time of your initial visit, please bring a list of all the medications you have tried in the past and the ones you are currently taking. Please document all start and end dates of all medications tried in the past to the best of your knowledge & why were they stopped i.e. side effects or cost etc.

​Various options are available for patients treated with Insulin (or if Insulin is considered as an option)

Insulin - Vials with Syringes, Disposable Pens & In Pen. In Pen is a great option and the software helps with calculations for meal time Insulin and it is very helpful in patients with memory challenges) 

Inhaled Insulin - Great option for patients with Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes as long as no history of lung disease

Insulin Pump - Great option for Type 1 & Type 2 Diabetes as long as you need to be on Insulin 

Continuous Glucose monitoring (CGM) This will not replace Insulin but compliment its use by guiding with glucose values on continuous basis. It is  a great option to replace fingerstick blood glucose testing and can help monitor glucose levels on smart watch and a smart phone for patient with all kind of diabetes, regardless of being on injectable medications or oral therapy, especially for people with high risk for hypoglycemia, hypoglycemic unawareness, On multiple daily insulin injections)

CGM & INSULIN PUMP

If you are interested in CGM or Insulin Pump, we can try our best to help you get the technology that you are interested in and that best suits your needs but that requires some information we need to gather and we need to work with your insurance company. Not every insurance covers all the options and some require prior authorization, therefore we request your patience and collaboration during this process.

 

For Medicare Patients with diabetes, who are taking more than 3 injections a day and wish to start on Continuous Glucose Monitor to avoid any more finger sticks to check you blood glucose levels, we request you to bring log of fingerstick blood glucose values to get the process expedited (Need record for a month, checking 4 times a day)

  • For patients with Private Insurances with diabetes & taking Insulin (Insulin Injections via syringe or pen or on Insulin Pump or on Inhaled Insulin) who wish to start on Continuous Glucose Monitor to avoid any more finger sticks to check you blood glucose levels must also keep a log of fingerstick BG at least 4 times a day for a month
